Why do I see a "this contract does not exist" message when trying to send funds?

This message is simply a warning informing the user that the destination address they have entered does not yet hold any tez. If you are sure you entered the destination address correctly, you can rest easy and go ahead with the transaction.

This warning usually pops up for deposit addresses provided by exchanges as well as newly-created accounts by new Tezos users.
